-Kennedy's most controversial decision in office was the Bay of Pigs. Soon after his inauguration he permitted a band of Cuban exiles,armed and trained, to invade their homeland to overthrow Castro. It failed miserably and resulted in international criticisms, causing Kennedy to take full blame and end his open door policy.
