A) Describe the caste system in India and how it affected Indian society.
It was a system that gave the citizens a social ranking which determined their status and how they were treated. There were four levels, the gods were above the caste system, and at the top was the Bhrahmin, who were the priests. Next is the Kshatriyas, who were the soldiers. Next was the Viasyas, who the merchants and landowners. Then at the bottom was the Sundras, who were the servants, commoners, and peasants. Below the caste system was the Untouchables, who were in poverty, and many times homeless. It set the social system of India so it greatly impacted its society.
B) How did the caste system spread to different regions in India?
It came with their religion, and as they spread through merchants, or conquest, the caste system spread with it. Soon it had covered a lot of India.
