Image 2: Struggles in Employment

Finding a job in America at the time was probably not the easiest; especially when you’re new to America, aren’t fluent in english, and don’t have any experience. My mom took her first job in America as a busser at a restaurant. She had to start low on the employment ladder and work her way up. Not only did she not have much experience since she was only 17, she tried hard to work to help her parents out even if it was just the slightest bit of money. However, although it’s harder to get a job in America, their pay is already way better than what you get paid in the Philippines. In comparison to the Philippines, you could get a better job most likely because they are not as strict as it is in America. Because the Philippines isn’t as organized, they have more opportunities, yet my mom consciously agreed to come to America to create a better life and future for her and her family as well.
