Image 1: Adjusting to a New Environment

In this image, it represents a group of students laughing at someone who isn’t particularly the “same” as them. I chose this because it represents how my mother once felt as she entered into a new school feeling like an outsider. She was a “new girl” who wasn’t the best with speaking english so she encountered some negative experiences with her peers. Although it seems a lot to get back up from, she somehow had he strength to not let it affect her anymore and started to accept that she is great just he way she is, even if it meant embracing her Filipino culture despite the fact that she was now in America.
