John Leguizamo
John Leguizamo was born on July 22, 1964, in Bogotá, Colombia. He is a comedian and famous for his one man shows in Broadway. John is a producer, actor , screenwriter , and stand-up comedian. He has starred in over 75 films such as all of the Ice Age movies. He played the role of Sid, the arctic sloth.
When he was 4 years old he and his family immigrated from Colombia to Jackson Heights and Queens ,New York later on.Johns father was a film director but dropped out of school due to lack of finance. After graduating Murry Bergtraum High School, he went to NYU's Tisch School of Arts but later dropped out to pursue his stand up comedy career. He later took theater classes at Long Island University.
In 1984 he started as a stand up comedian doing the New York nightclub circuit. In 1986 he had his television debut with a small part in a show called Miami Vice. He played an extra in Madonnas video, "Borderline". He also played roles in Die Hard 2 as well Hangin with the Homeboys. He had a lead in the movie Super Mario Bros as Luigi also.When he played a role on the television show ER he became depressed by smoking and gaining weight so he decided to quit. He featured in Dora the Explorer.
John has had many other hits in his career and he currently lives in Manhattan, New York with his second wife, Justine Maurer and two kids, Allegra Sky and Ryder Lee Leguizamo.
John currently has a Primetime Emmy from 1999, ALMA Awards from 1999, 2001, 2002, and 2009 all for separate films he has starred in. He has won a CableACE award from 1994, and lastly an Imagen Foundation Award from 2004. Hopefully he wins many more as his career keeps growing.
