Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll is a Colombian musician. She was born on February 2, 1977 in Barranquilla, Colombia. Shakira is a very popular Latino singer and she is known for her belly dancing. She has had many hits such as " Hips Don't Lie" , " Shewolf", "La, La, La ( Dare You )", "Whenever, Wherever", "Waka Waka" and many more popular songs.She grew up listening from Colombian music, since her mom was native from there, and Lebanese music which is where her dad was from. She also listened to bands such as Led Zepplin, the Beatles, and Nirvana and that influenced her sound today.

She lived a poor childhood, but still managed to go to school. She even got kicked out of her school choir for singing to forcefully and her music teacher even said that she sounded like a goat. She made her first song at 8, learned the guitar at 11, and pursued a modeling career at age 13, moving to Bagota but then ended up being signed by Sony .

In 1991 she released her first album,"Magia" then her music career sky rocketed. She has won 12 Grammys and 7 American Music Awards. She has also won many countless awards. In total, she has won 443 awards.

Then in late 2012, she judged one season on a hit singing show called " The Voice". She currently has two kids , Milan Pique Mebarak, and Sasha Pique Mebarak. The father of the two children is her husband, Gerard Pique Bernabeu who is a famous soccer player for Spain.
