Conclusion

Gender issues have been an integral component in the Muslim world since the 19th century (Moaddel, 2014). Since there has been communication between modern secular states and Fundamentalist Islamic countries, women began to engage in movements for their rights. In Egypt in the 1920's, some women discarded their veils, and many upper-class women followed their lead. These higher class Egyptian women gained rights they never before thought possible. When they take off their veils, they gain a new sense of freedom. The Muslim women who are forced to veil are not able to express themselves, so it can effect their personality. The veil does not only effect them mentally and socially, it also effects them physically. If they are caught without the veil, they are beaten and thrown in prison. The veil is a way for Muslim men to instill fear in them, forcing them to comply with society. Women who choose not to wear the veil, are forced to wear it anyways. Their rights are breached when they are forced to do something they completely disagree with. The men who set the laws have used a simple piece of clothing to enslave women. This photograph shows the unveiling of a Muslim woman. She sees through the veil and its use in Muslim countries. Marjane saw the veil as an article that makes you less of a person. She was ashamed to wear the oppressive veil. Today, women in these countries are slowly catching on to what is happening. Small rebellions have been growing since the women have been oppressed to a point beyond tolerable. Little by little, Muslim women gain more rights. The unveiling has powerful meaning. The life of the veil has been long but it should come to its death. The veil is suppressing women in muslim countries. It is time to unveil.
