Latin America

A. Mexico had to deal with neo-colonialism because America invertervened military when they felt threatened or scared. America influenced Mexico's economy through investment and part ownership. During the 19th century Latin American states looked at America as a role model, but then in the 20th century, the American interference had more of a negative reaction.


B. The constitution of 1917 incorporated reformist social laws and liberties. The program of land redistribution that followed this constitution reached its peak when Mexico had a new president, Lázaro Cárdenas. He also took control of the Mexican oil wells away from foregien investors.


C. Conservative governments that were controlled by the PRI was often ruled as harsh and they experimented with various economic strategies that either would decrease or increase Mexico's dependence of foreign markets and capital.
