Biome's Place on Earth and Ecology

Location

The Artic Tundra is found in Northern Alaska, Canada, and across Russia in Siberia.

Abiotic Factors

• Long, cold winters

• Short, cool summers

• low precipitation, dry winds

• desert like climate

Plant Life

• Mosses, liches, shrubs, grasses

These plants adapt to the environment of the tundra in many ways. For example, they grow close together and close to the ground in order to combat the tough weather. They have also developed the ability to grow under snow as well as complete photosynthesis in extremely cold conditions. Plants have also formed smaller leaves in order to retain water.
