Genotype:The genetic makeup of an individual. Refers to the information contained on two alleles in the cell. For example the susceptibility to diseases,
this is the hereditary information given to an individual by their parents. Partly inherited by offspring, as one of the two alleles is passed on during reproduction.
Phenotype:Detectable expression of the genotype. An expressed and observable trait. For example hair color, eye color, or weight. These are affected by the genotype and the cells environment, these cannot be inherited.
Explain the role of heredity on the development of of plant and animal offspring.(Continued)
All cells carry DNA. this contains the genetic code given to the off spring by their parents. The genes control the build and activity of the offspring and determine what it may be. Normally every cell in the offspring contains two copies of each gene one that came from the egg and another that came from the sperm, this means that no offspring made sexually will be an exact replica of its parent. For plants that can self pollinate the chromosomes both come from one mother which means there's little to no variation in offspring.
