Summary

Things are not good in the Seven Realms. The Kingdom of Arden is in the midst of a civil war. The Kingdom of Tamron is rocking under weak rulers. The Queendom of the Fells has the weak Queen Marianna ana'Rissa to rule them. The princess heir Raisa wants things to change, but she cannot do anything on her own. Her choices are made for her by her mother and Lord Bayar, the high wizard. She desperately wants to be free of their clutches, but everything previously normal in her life seems to be crumbling around her.

Han "Cuffs" Alister wants to be free as well, but in a different way. Han lives in the lower city of Fellsmarch, a place of squalor, and where the true corruption of the crown shows through. He wants to be free of his old reputation of a thief so he can support his mother and sister. His life only gets more and more complicated when he takes a wizard's amulet from Micah Bayar, Lord Bayar's son.
