Chapter 3

When they arrive to the Murry house they see Mrs. Murry at the Bunsen burner making stew. Calvin told Meg she is lucky to have a good family. Before dinner Meg shows Calvin a picture of her father and some other scientists. After that Calvin started his homework, but didn't get it. Meg asks if she could help with it. Even though Meg is not the same age or doing the same work, she is able to help him understand how to do his work. To his surprise Meg got it right. After dinner, Calvin reads Charles Wallace a book while Meg sits with her mother downstairs. Mrs. Murry expresses her grief about her husbands absence. She tells Meg that everything happens for a reason but the reason might not always be clear to us. Meg is troubled by this because she thinks that she understands everything. She comments that Charles Wallace seems to understand everything, and Mrs. Murry says that somehow Charles is special.
