Brown v. Board of Education (1954)

• This case was really five separate cases that the Supreme Court grouped under one name, Brown v. Board of Education.

• It dealt with the outcome of Plessy v. Fergusson in the 1890s, "Separate but equal."

• The decision of Plessy didn't leave opposers to Jim Crow laws discouraged.

• For years after the decision was decided upon several organizations fought to abolish the laws.
