Brown v. Board of Education (1954)

• Thurgood Marshall was charged with opposing the Jim Crow laws in court.


• He tried to make the case that separate doesn't mean equal.


• He explained that this mentality was in violation with the "Equal Protection" clause in the 14th Amendment.


• Several Justices were very much opposed to the Jim Crow laws, however, they couldn't all come to agree.


• Finally on May 14, 1954 they deemed Segregation in public school unconstitutional.
