The challenges inmates face with having Major depression and Dysthymia Disorder within the institution, is the medication is very expensive and they may not have the means to pay for their medication.
They suffer from a lot of up and downs which can be mild to extreme and cause many outbursts. Without their medication they can’t stabilize their mood swings which causes a lot of issues towards other inmates and correctional staff. They can become verbally and physically aggressive within the institution.
