The Norfolk Academy English curriculum prepares you to take the AP Exam in English Literature and the Exam in English Language.

Dr. Kidd will help you learn everything you need to get a 4 or a 5, but YOU need to do the practice and review.

- Both tests (English Literature and English Language) are skill-based rather than content-based. In other words, you must be a good reader and writer in order to do well. You need not have memorized several facts about authors, literary movements, character names, etc. That information IS valuable, but it is not the focus of this test.

- You will have 1 hour of multiple-choice reading comprehension questions worth 45% of your grade. You are not expected to have read the passages upon which the questions are based. The passages are provided on the test.

- You will have 2 hours in which to write three essays. These essays constitute 55% of your grade.
