Death:

On April 12th of 1945 Franklin Roosevelt died of a cerebral hemorrhage. Roosevelt died while preparing to run for President for the fourth time.

- Percent Popular Vote: 57.4% to FDR; 39.7% to Hoover


2nd Election:

-Republican Opponent: Alfred Landon

- Percent Popular Vote: 60.8% to FDR; 36,5% to Landon

- Republican Opponent: Wendell L. Wilkins

- Percent Popular Vote: 54.7% to FDR; 44.8% to Wilkins




Defining Moments:

1) The New Deal Programs started in 1933. These programs were made to help with Relief, Recovery, and Reform. Roosevelt acted as the Chief Legislator with these programs.

2) Fireside Chats were very important in FDR's presidency. These chats were the first means of direct communication between the President and the United States citizens. These chats took place between March of 1933 through June of 1944. FDR acted as Chief of State.

3) Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act on August 14th of 1935. This act was to provide general welfare by establishing a system of federal benefits for older-aged people. Roosevelt acted as a Chief Legislator by signing this act.
