The consolidation of U.S. Authority in the Philippines was a very difficult affair. The spanish american war coincided with the filipino revolt against the spanish rule over them. America agreed to make the Philippines independent in exchange for their alliance in the war, but later, america took control of them. This brought violence between the Americas and the Philippines.
