Culture, Art, and Religion
As I just mentioned, artifacts are very important, they tell us the religion, art and culture of humans in the past in the certain area. In this case we are talking about Jericho, so what I do know is this: Jericho is located near Jerusalem, and artifacts have been uncovered with writing in Hebrew. I don't know if anyone in this class is Jewish or speaks/writes Hebrew, but I did know some friends who do and Jerusalem is an important place to the Jewish religion. Art is believed to have been paintings on flat pieces of rocks, using natural paints. Other art would have been jewelry, early pottery, and tool making. Jericho was among the Neolithic period, meaning that pottery came late. Art was an important part to their culture. Jericho in Jesus's time was a center of development, it contained a small wealthy middle class, and a great number of poor people.
