The United States has a Federal Government. Both central and state government share power. The states have their own police department. For example Los Angeles, Ca has their own polices called LAPD and New York also their own police NYPD. With each state having their own police they can not interfere. Meaning the LAPD can not go to New York and arrest someone. They could only arrest when their in there area or jurisdiction.
