The three main technological advances that helped establish a foundation for exploration included advancements in weapons, ship designs, and navigational instruments. They were able to improve their weapons after the production of guns in North Africa in 1250 CE which allowed China to adapt their own and copied the ideas of the Arabs while also inventing gunpowder and carrying cannons along their ships. The invention of multiple sails helped improve the design of the ships and also allowed for sailors to navigate easier.
