Three million people left their farms on the Great Plains during the drought and half a million migrated to other states, almost all to the West. Farmers could not risk poor Profit in such dire circumstances. Money was already an issue and jobs were hard to keep. EventuaĆy, people started to come up with solutions to fix the problem. Farmers were instructed to rotate crops and work in a less destructive manner. The local government also assisted many of the farmer still living in the area with small payments.
