Greece's mainland was located in southern Europe which was mainly mountains and the Mediterranean surrounded almost all of Greece.
They had mild winters and long, dry, hot summers.
They were sea faring people since a huge amount of the country was islands which they traded with. There was about 1,400 islands.
The Greek cities were founded by the Black Sea, North Africa, Italy, Scicily, France, and Spain.
