Bur Oak
Genus: Oak
Rank: Species
Scientific Name: Quercus Macrocarpa
Bur Oak is a very common type of Oak found and grown almost everywhere in America except the most southern parts of California, Texas, and all of Florida. The Bur Oak starts to produce its acorns during spring and by late summer they are ready to fall to the ground. The tree grows at a very slow rate at less than 12 inches per year and grows up to 80 feet. The Bur Oak also has a very large wildlife value because the acorns are the preferred food of some animals.
