Fair Standard Labors Act
In 1932 Hugo Black drafted the Fair Labor Standards Act which is the same year Florence Kelley died. This Act included 40 hour work week, minimum wage, overtime pay, and prohibited most employment.
Florence Kelley was an activist who helped develop the Sheppard Towner Act in 1912 and the Fair Standards Labor Act in 1932. The Sheppard Towner Act provided federal funding and child care. The Fair Labor Standards Act provided 40 hour work week, minimum wage, overtime pay, and most employment.
Fair Labor Standards Act: federal legislation that protects workers from unfair labor conditions,unequal pay, long hours, and unsafe conditions.
Sheppard Towner Act: 1921 Act that provided federal funding for maternity and child care.
