Summary
Florence Kelley was an activist who fought for women rights and against child labor starting in 1891. She visited sweatshops in which these victims worked in terrible conditions for many hours. Kelley knew she had to do something about this so she joined other activists and founded famous organizations through the 1890s such as the National Consumer's League, Children's Bureau and more.
1891
Kelley moves to the Hull House joining other activists.
1893
The Illinois Legislature adopts Kelley's report and becomes the first factory inspector.
1899-1908
She later goes to New York to lead the National Consumer's League.
1912
Florence Kelley helps create the Children's Bureau.
1932
The Fair Standards Act is adopted and drafted by Hugo Black.
