Hull House

The Report

In 1894 Kelley moves to the Hull House located in Chicago, Illinois working with Jane Addams and others while there. All activists agreed on closing sweatshops which was what they fought for.

9 Years later the Illinois Legislature adopts the report which included minimum wage and working hours, She instantly becomes the first factory inspector. That same year the Illinois Manufacturers Association went against her and made her report unconstitutional.

Hull House:

An American settlement house established by Jane Addams.

Sweatshops:

A factory or workshop where kids, women, men work at for a low wage and in terrible conditions.

Jane Addams:

Activist, social reformer,feminist, and pacifist who founded the Hull House.
