Non-Living things are things that either went through a process or do not have all (or any) of the 6 characteristics or 4 needs of living things. My example of a non-living thing is a rock.

One reason this rock isn't alive is that it doesn't have cells.

The third reason this rock is non-living is that rocks don't reproduce neither asexually or sexually.

The fourth reson is that rocks don't respond to their environment at all, they are inanimate.

Also, rocks don't grow or develop, again proving that it is non-living.

Furthermore, rocks don't have all of the chemicals of life either, especially not DNA.

Lastly, rocks don't need food, water, living space, or stable internal conditions, or homeostasis.

This rock is definetly non-living because it doesn't have the 6 characteristics of living things and it also doesn't need the 4 things all organisms need.
