4. Compare the processes of mitosis and meiosis along with genetic disorders that result from mutations?

*Mitosis and Meiosis are both a type of cell division.

*Mitosis is a process of life, during this process duplicates all of its contents.

*It duplicates it's chromosomes, and splits to form identical twins.

*Mitosis can lead to changes in the DNA sequence.

*This can lead to the cell dividing out of control causing a tumor.

*Mitosis includes five very important steps; interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase.

*Meiosis ensures that humans have the same amount or number of chromosomes in each generation.

*It is a two step process that reduces the chromosomes number half of 46 to 23.

*Genetic disorders caused by meiosis is Down Syndrome.

*Steps in both meiosis 1 and 2 include; prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase.

Advantage of mitosis is that no partner is needed and mitosis is asexual. Meiosis advantage is that it can adapt to changes in the environment. Disadvantage of mitosis is environmental changes. Disadvantage of meiosis includes a partner and takes longer.

Uncommon genetic disorders often occur in the Southern part of Africa. Afrikaners in Southern Africa have a high frequency of genetic disorders. Mitosis and meiosis both take part in making the plants in Africa such as the rose.
