Importance to the Church

St. Katharine Drexel is important to the church because she helped Native Americans and African Americans. She started the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament for Indians and Colored People. She also set up a school for Native Americans in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 1894. Another school she set up for African Americans in New Orleans, Louisiana and now is known has Xavier University.
