Gold Rush

The California Gold Rush brought millions of people from around the world to California. The one important reason why they came was to strike it rich with gold and finding it an easy/free way. But it wasn't actually free because immigrants had to pay taxes in order to mine. California became tremendously valuable to the united states. Since the population was growing quickly and rapidly California expanded their borders.
