California Gold Rush
The gold rush started on January 24, 1848 in Sutter's Mill in Coloma, California. It happened to end sometime in 1855. What started the gold rush was a man named James W. Marshall was building a mill and came across a gold nugget. Once the word spread across the world they had people from everywhere coming to find gold and to strike it rich. Although it was a risky thing to come and risk your life traveling through mountains many people still did it. People left their families and sometimes never made it back to see their own family and children.
