First degree burns- are just minor burns that affects the outer layer of skin; the epidermis, When you come by a first degree burn you will see just redness and pain the person would show. This type of burn is easily resolved with some first aid care and some time for healing. Sunburn would be a classic example of a first degree burn, that we likely been exposed to or seen in our lifetimes that's been treated.


Second degree burn- mores severe and effect the epidermis and the dermis of the skin. This is why it is also measured by percentage ( rule of 9s ) to ensure clear diagnosis and to ensure the severity of the burn is treated properly. Some of the key signs you will see with this degree are redness, pain, and swelling may also look moist and wet. They may also be blisters and signs of more severe pain than a first degree burn. If the burn is deep enough it may lead to scarring the body, any burn that is a second degree burn or higher is mòre then 10% of the body, they may be recommended to a burn unit for further evaluation, due to these verity of having a higher degree burn.
