Big Idea

In pulling away from the peace talks led by the countries that would come to form the Triple Entente in World War I, the CUP led the Ottoman Empire on a Path Opposite to that of the European powers that were trying to help them keep peace. By partaking in the alliance-building that created a series of unfortunate friendship in Europe, the Ottoman Empire helped to produce the oncoming world war. In supporting one of the main causes of the war, it pushed Europe closer and closer to the brink to the war that would finally be their downfall.
