"Old School," though a loose satire, parodies another lifestyle commonly portrayed in film: frat life. When Mitch moves into a house around the local university's campus, his friends talk him into starting a sort of community frat for men of all ages.

The 2000s: The Golden Age of Modern Mockery

The 2000s were all about mocking lifestyles. With films such as "Zoolander," "Blades of Glory," and "Anchorman" we can see America's fascination with the lifestyles of the rich, beautiful, and successful. "Zoolander" parodies the entire fashion industry.

"Step Brothers" is a modern satire about the life of a blended family and the effects of two step siblings not getting along, and then getting along too well. However "Step Brothers" takes this situation further to examine the dynamic of a family when two boys never really grew up, compared to Derek's "American Dream" family.
