The 1980s and Mel Brooks
Introduction
Though Mel Brooks career began taking off in the '70s, it wasn't until the 1980s that Brooks released what many consider to be in his crowning achievement in film:"Spaceballs." "Spaceballs" makes no attempts to disguises the cultural phenomenon it parodies, "Star Wars." The film follows Lone Starr, Barf, and Princess Vespa on their journey through space to stop Dark Helmet from stealing planet Druidia's air supply. The 1980s also showcases a shift toward cultural or entertainment satire.
