The 1990s: A Fool or A Spy in Disguise

Though comedy continued to grow and flourish in the 1990s, the greatest hit satire wasn't released until 1997, starring Mike Meyers as Austin Powers. "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" chronicles 1960s secret agent Austin Powers thawing into 1990s society. Nothing can stop Austin's mission to defeat Dr. Evil, except maybe a lady. His sexist, "ladies-man" attitude is commonly not well received, but Powers continues to play his charms throughout the entire film. Questionable wardrobe aside, Powers is certainly a more lively alternative to his counterpart James Bond.
