The contrasting themes and traditions in Classical and Baroque Sculpture
03
Analyze how the English, Dutch, and French colonies of North America were different than the Spanish and Portuguese colonies.
- The english, dutch, and French all took part in participating in the fur trade. The portuguese were involved in the atlantic slave trade and used something called an “Engho” in order to make sugar. - The spanish made agricultural crops and all of the multiculturals lived on the coastline. The Spanish culture included silver, while the French and English made rum.
- The French and British colonies were scattered along the East coast of the U.S. They were very harsh to the Native Americans and didn't respect them at all. The Spanish got the Native Americans to start speaking Spanish and indulge more into their culture. The Spanish people took the Native Americans in and taught them Catholicism. It was very popular for the Spaniards to create Catholic schools and become missionaries. The Dutch didn't make the effort to influence their language and religion on the Native Americans
