SETTING

The setting plays an important role in this novel. So many aspects and events that occur are based on the fact that it takes place in Nazi Germany. By the description the author gives us of the setting,readers feel like they have been transported through time as they read the book. Setting the story in Germany during World War II gives the book a lot of drama and excitement.With the catastrophic moments of war in the background,any unexpected event could bring a radical change to the story. The Hubermann's basement is also a very important place in this story because that was where Liesel learned to read.Every place mentioned in this book has a secret behind it and those secrets will be revealed during the course of the book.
