" Rosie was born from an affair that Lydia admits she had with another man, Ismael Serrano.Eventually, Lydia, who suffered from mental illness, placed her children in a home in Peekskill. Rosie was 2 at the time. At the age of 8, she and several of her sisters were transferred to a group foster home farther upstate. "I didn't want them to be separated," Lydia said. But she visited the children once a month. "She was always there for us, she just couldn't handle raising us," one of Rosie's sisters said.
