Describe the Spanish and Portuguese Imperial rule over its new founded territory of Latin America.
Spanish-
-They both had a viceroy and Mexico city was built on top of Tenochititlan, but Lima was built on the west coast because it is accessible to ships and it is a lower altitude
-So the viceroys didn’t make their own states, audiencias would keep them in check
-The viceroys actually had a lot of power because Spain was about 2 years away round trip so the viceroys made a lot of decisios by finding loopholes around what the Spanish ruler said
Portuguese-
-Many people created sugar mills to make money
-The government wanted to gain a lot of money from this so they started to send slaves or workers to these plantations for maximum profits
-Also the government tried to make the work conditions as best as possible
-The government also wanted metals so they began to mine for silver and gold
