How is it contracted continued

Trauma such as a fall or any invasive procedures or even a viral infection such as the flu, or any injury that causes muscle swelling or inflammation can cause flare ups. These flare ups can last anywhere from days to months and result in a very painful process of permanent bone growth in the injured areas.

A normal person when injured, or has experienced an invasive procedure or has had the flu, the body automatically reacts to the injury and replaces the dead cells with scarred tissue. However, people with FOP instead of healing the injury with new cells and scarred tissues it starts to turn to cartilage and then to bone, rendering their ability to move.
