NAME
Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva is one of the rarest, and most disabling, genetic conditions known to medicine.
It causes muscle, tendons, ligaments and other connective tissue to permanently turn to bone.
These bones grow abnormally in the muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissue forming bridges of bone across the joints.
As a result of this movement in the affected areas is greatly restricted ,a lot of the time impossible and could permanently immobilize the affected area completely.
The condition affects many areas of the body including but not limited to the jaw, the neck, the spine, the chest, the shoulders, the elbows, the wrists, hips, knees, and ankles.
