The major events of Long Island

The battle of Long Island was the first battle to take place following the signing of the Declaration of Independence. But soon after the battle ended, it ended when the Americans were at a loss but it gets worse, there were no defense on Brooklyn heights. Causing the British to storm to the small city of New York setting it ablaze, literally meaning they burnt the entire city.
