This is a picture of the catacombs described in the story. Catacombs are a underground burial chamber where peoples dead ancestors are buried. In the story it is one of the settings. It is where Fortunato takes his last breath better known as where he dies. I'm the story it says, "We had passed through long walls of piled skeletons, with casks and puncheons intermingling, into the inmost recesses of the catacombs. This gives the reader a feeling of where they were during this time of the story.
