Structure

- Each organ of muscle consists of skeletal muscle tissue, connective tissue, nerve tissue, and blood or vascular tissue.

- Skeletal muscles vary in size and shape such as the stapedius which protects the ear from loud noises, to large masses such as the muscles of the thigh.

Function

- Muscles support the body's movements, help to maintain posture, provide efficient movement, and circulate blood plus other substances throughout the body.
