A gymnast must have to deal with muscular endurance to avoid fatigue and ensure good form when performing a skill. Gymnasts are surrounded by many different activities and each involves a varying degree of muscle use. A balance between upper and lower body strength is important for the gymnast to enhance their performance.

The muscular system is the most important system when performing gymnastics. It allows the gymnast to do simple skills such as a cartwheel or a handstand. The skeletal system works very closely with the muscular system as it helps to provide movement and allows the gymnast to perform a range of skills.
