How is it caused?
Sickle Cell Disease is an inherited abnormal hemoglobin trait. Hemoglobin is a protein that helps blood carry oxygen. The normal hemoglobin trait is A, but when you have this disease, you can have either S, C, D, E, or O. These genes are passed down just like your other genes, examples being hair color or height.
