III.Process

C.Impression

- What impression do you want your subject to make on the readers?

- ^ This is what you call Dominant Impression

Ex. Describing an old house.

Ask: What impression do you want to make? Fear? Scary?

• To make the impression of fear describe aspects of the house to scare the

reader such as squeaky floor boards, spider webs, or a bat screeching

• What if you wanted to sell the house? Then focus on the appealing aspects

such as lush lawn, newly renovated kitchen, or fresh new coat of paint on

the walls.

• Can you see the difference between subjective and objective description?
