Moving the hair from its natural fall, distributing weight side to side, as well as forward/backward. Shape is viewed from a birds eye view.

OVER-DIRECTION = DISTRIBUTING WEIGHT FORWARD/BACKWARD = SHAPE

THERE ARE 3 SHAPES:

‣ TRIANGULAR

ROUND is shorter in the front and longer in the back. Weight is distributed backwards. Over-direct hair forward. Cut begins at the front.

TRIANGULAR is longer in the front and shorter in the back. weight is distributed forward. Over-direct the hair forward. Cut begins in the back.

SQUARE appears to have even lengths on all sides. Weight is distributed evenly. Over-direct the hair both forward and back. Haircut begins at the flatter parts of the head (side/back/top)

CUTTING BELOW THE FINGER is used for control when cutting a one length below the shoulders. Low elevation.

CUTTING OVER THE FINGER is used for greater control when elevating hair in the upper portion of the head.

PALM TO PALM is for control when working on the lower half of the head. Used with graduation, layering and shorter lengths.
